Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
1. Who we are
Dineadda is operated by Kavin Varnan, of 67/21, Ramamoorthy Road, Virudhunagar 626001 ("we", "us").
Dineadda lets people host and join tables at restaurants and eat with people they have not met. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
If you have a question about any of it, write to hello@dineadda.com.
2. Who can use Dineadda
Dineadda is for adults. You must be 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using Dineadda, tell us at hello@dineadda.com and we will close the account.
3. What we collect
When you sign in
We use Sign in with Apple. From Apple we receive:
- A stable identifier for your Apple account, which is how we recognise you when you come back
- Your name, on the first sign-in only. Apple sends this once and never again.
We do not ask Apple for your email address.
We also keep the token Apple gives us that records your authorisation of this app. We keep it for one reason: to hand it back to Apple and revoke it when you delete your account.
What you put on your profile
- Your name
- Your date of birth (we show your age, and you can hide it in Settings)
- Your gender
- A photograph, if you upload one
- A short line about yourself, if you write one
If you verify a work or school email
If you choose to verify a work or school address, we store the address, its domain, and the name of the organisation. We send a code to that address to confirm you can read it. We use this only to show that your account is verified.
You do not have to verify an address to use Dineadda, but some actions require it.
Where you are
We record the city and neighbourhood your account is associated with, so we can show you tables near you. This is updated when you open the app.
We do not collect GPS or precise location. The app never asks for location permission and does not read your device's location. Maps in the app show restaurants, not you.
What you write and do
- Messages you send in a table's group chat
- Reviews and ratings you write about people you have eaten with
- Reports you file about other people
- Which tables you host, ask to join, join, and leave
Technical information
- A push notification token for each device, so we can send you notifications
- The time you last opened the app
- Server logs recording actions taken, which include your account identifier
4. Why we use it
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | To run your account and let other diners see who they are eating with |
| Date of birth | To enforce the 18+ requirement and show your age if you allow it |
| City and neighbourhood | To show you tables you could actually get to |
| Chat, reviews, tables | To provide the service itself |
| Reports | To keep people safe and to act against accounts that break the rules |
| Work or school verification | To show other diners that your account is verified |
| Push tokens | To tell you a table is tonight, that somebody asked for a seat, and so on |
| Logs and analytics | To keep the service working and find faults |
Where the law requires a legal basis, ours is: performing our contract with you (running the service), our legitimate interests (safety, preventing abuse, keeping the service working), and your consent where you gave it (notifications, uploading a photo).
5. Who else sees it
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising.
We use these providers to run Dineadda:
| Provider | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; delivery of push notifications through APNs |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, database, photograph storage, and real-time chat infrastructure |
| PostHog | Server logs and diagnostics. Log lines include your account identifier. |
Other diners see what you would expect them to see: your name, your photograph, your line, your age if you have not hidden it, whether you are verified, and the reviews written about you.
They do not see your date of birth, your email address, who you reported, or what you said in a report.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect somebody's safety.
6. Reviews and reports
Reviews you write about other people are shown on their profile. If you write a review anonymously, your name is not shown to them — but we still know who wrote it, and we will look if it is reported.
Reports you file are never shown to the person you reported. They are not told that you reported them, or what you said.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account and profile — until you delete your account.
- Chat messages — a table's thread holds its most recent messages and is deleted when the table is deleted.
- Reviews written about you — deleted when you delete your account.
- Reviews you wrote about other people — kept, but no longer attached to a name anybody can open. They are other people's records of their own evenings.
- Reports — kept after account deletion. They are the reporter's words, and safety is the reason we hold anything at all.
- Photographs — deleted from storage when you delete your account or remove the photo.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time, from Settings → Delete account, inside the app.
When you do:
- Your name, photograph, line, and email are erased
- Your Apple sign-in link is removed, and we ask Apple to revoke this app's authorisation
- Reviews written about you are deleted
- Tables you are hosting are cancelled and seats you hold are given back
- Your photograph is deleted from storage
- What remains is an identifier with no person behind it, so other people's records of their own evenings still make sense
This is final. There is no way to sign back in to a deleted account.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to:
- Give you a copy of what we hold about you
- Correct anything wrong
- Delete your account and your data (you can do this yourself, in the app)
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Withdraw consent you gave
Write to hello@dineadda.com and we will respond within the time the law allows. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Where your data is held
Dineadda runs on Cloudflare's global network, and data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
11. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted. Photographs are stored under unguessable identifiers. Access to production systems is limited.
No service is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise otherwise.
12. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app where the change is significant.
